[MR] Australia to ban swords

We have an alarm but we installed it because of the mall that's been built
on 610 PLUS we are 500 yards from I-95 so the probability of robbery has
increased.

Lock and key will probably mean a case or gun rack type thing. Always err
on the side of stupidity, err caution. what is the most extreme and costly
to the public.

but you missed the qualifier,

"but must store them under lock and key and have a
burglar alarm."

how many of us have a burglar alarm? and what
constitutes "lock and key?" does my locked front door
count? or do i have to buy a safe? if my locked front
door is sufficient to prevent the theft of my TV set,
is it also good enough to prevent the theft of my
sword? and if not, who are they really trying to
prevent from accessing it, me? if my home is invaded
and i defend it with a sword (handguns and semi-auto
weapons being illegal in Australia) will i be hailed
as a hero or thrown in the gulag? how much authority
will the police have in verification of your proper
storage?

seems a little overkill for a simple piece of
sharpened metal. what's next, my kitchen knives? will
they be designated "assault swords?"

Domenico
