This is the obligatory reminder about the Garb Embellishment section of the
Tempore Atlantia competition that I am sponsoring at Fall Coronation.
Remember I mentioned it last October? Wouldn't want you to forget and not
enter!
The category is Garb Embellishment. This means any documentable form of
embellishment - embroidery, weaving, pearling, whatever...
Documentation is required, but please don't go overboard - I'd like to be
able to *read* all the papers without merely scanning.
Works in progress are just fine - better an unfinished but beautiful
piece than one that was rushed and doesn't live up to your standards of
craftsmanship.
Beginners have an equal chance of winning against "old pros", so please
do not be afraid... we ohh and ahh over all levels of achievement.
Don't forget that you'll need something to do with your hands during
those long event afternoons this lazy summer! If you haven't started your
Ymir or 12th Night Blow-Out Project, now's the time! Kill two birds with one
stone! Or even three! The Kingdom A&S website has some great links for
inspiration.
The prize is a large basket of non-fading, non-shrinking silk threads in
assorted colours. I've been buying a few colours every pay-day since October
so there's a good sized collection there. Should you not need silk thread
for what you do, remember that silk thread for bartering for other stuff
with another artisan is very, very handy.
I understand that there are two collections of wool thread being offered
at a future Tempore Atlantia so it appears we are set for many a
competition - isn't that great? If pre-1000s isn't your focus, you still
have a thread opening coming up!
In service,
Hrothny
