Greetings Unto the Populace,

As is the tradition of Storvik’s Novice Tourney, there will be a competition planned for Best in Show by a Novice. For those of you who are new to SCA, this is defined as those who have been practicing an Art or Science for less than a year. There are no restrictions on medium, topic or time period. Though we will have judges who will offer critique for this competition, we are encouraging the populace to take part as well by giving them pearls to place in the cups of the entrants they decide to award their praises to. Hopefully the pearls given to those who are competing that day may become a portent of the time when that person may be inducted into the Order of the Pearl for their accomplishments within the Arts and Sciences. There will also be a prize given to winner of this competition besides the pearls that each participant is allowed to keep as tokens for their valiant efforts.

In addition, we will be holding a Curriculum Vita to give everyone a chance to bring out the best example of one of EVERY Art or Science that was tried within the general context of SCA. This will give all those attending a good chance to witness the breadth of an individual’s A&S talents as well as their not-so-perfect attempts. I would like to especially extend an invitation to the Laurels and Pearls within our kingdom to participate. For without your examples to follow, many of us would not have heights to which we can aspire. Those who would like to participate in the Curriculum Vita need to contact me so that I can arrange for enough space to properly display everyone’s items. If you are unable to attend the event but are willing to allow us to display your efforts, please feel free to contact me and I will try to make arrangements in advance to pick up your items and return them to you at your convenience.

If you have any questions or would like to help judge the competition, please feel free to email or call me at (301) 490-9362. I would like to thank you in advance for your help, participation and contribution in keeping the light of knowledge alive.

Yours in Service,

Lady Kim of Wolfshaven

Minister of Arts & Sciences
Barony of Storvik
