    On July 17, the College of Yarnvid will be hosting a free event and
demo for the James L. Hamner Public Library in Amelia, VA.  Please
consider coming out to demo your favourite art or science!  Yarnvid will
be sponsoring a potluck in the library after the public demo.
 
Gwrtheyrn's Challenge Free Event and Demo
Date of Event:  July 17, 2004

The red dragon and the white dragon battle under the foundation of
Gwrtheyrn's keep!  Come witness the outcome of this struggle at the
College of Yarnvid's free event and demo for the James L. Hamner Public
Library in Amelia, VA.  There will be a demo period tournament followed
by melee practices. Please contact Gustav von Silberwald (Peter Topkis,
gustavvs at yahoo.com )for more information. 
As this is also a demo, there will be ample space to show off your
favorite art or science for the modern day populace attending.  
   Once the public demo is over, there will be a potluck feast in the
library.  The College of Yarnvid will be providing a venison dish and a
chicken dish, and bread.
   
   The site will open at 9:00 AM and be open to the modern day demo
attendees from 10:00 AM-5:00 PM.  At 6:00 a potluck feat will begin, and
the site will close at 9:00 PM.

Martial Activities:  There will be a demo period tournament followed by

As the event is free, there is no charge.  Please remember, if your SCA
first name begins with A-M, please bring a side dish to feed 6-8.  If
your name begins with N-Z, please bring a dessert, sweet or fruit.

While this is a free event, please make an e-mail or phone (not later
than 9:00 PM) reservation to the autocrat, Mavi of Black Diamond
spynnere at juno.com (804-794-8960) so that we have an idea of how much
venison and chicken to serve.

Site Restrictions:  No alcohol, no ground fires.
 
Feast Information:  The feast is potluck, Yarnvid will be providing
bread, venison and chicken.  If your SCA name begins with A-M, please
bring a side dish to feed 6-8.  If your name begins with N-Z, please
bring a dessert, sweet, or fruit.
 
Merchanting Information:  Merchants are most welcome, however, please

VA-13/Old Buckingham Rd.  Turn left onto VA-609/Giles Bridge Rd,

Petersburg turnpike/195S (exit 190 on the left).  Merge onto the Downtown
Expresswsy/VA-195W/I-95N (exit 74A).  Go toward I-195N/Powhite Parkway
(tollroad).  Take the Powhite Parkway/VA146S to VA-150/VA-288/US-60.
Merge onto the Powhite Parkway.  Merge onto VA-288S to
I-95/Chesterfield/VA-360/Amelia.  Merge onto US-360W toward Amelia.  Turn
left onto VA-656.  Follow from *** above.

>From the North:  Take your best route to I-95S.  Take I-64W/I195 (exit
79) toward the Powhite/Charlottesville.  Merge onto I-195 via exit 186
(on left) toward the Powhite Parkway (tollroad).  Take VA-76S/Beltline
Expresswaytoward VA-150/Powhite Parkway/US-60/US-360.  Merge onto VA-76S.
 Merge onto VA-288toward I-95/Chesterfield/VA-360/Amelia.  Merge onto
360W toward Amelia.  Turn left onto VA-656.  Follow from *** above.

>From the South:  Take your best route to I-85N.  Take exit 27, VA-46
toward Blackstone/Lawrenceville.  Turn left onto VA-46.  Stay straight to
go onto VA-46/Christianna Highway.  Stay straight to go onto VA-46.  Turn
right onto VA-40/S. Main St.  Turn left onto Church St.  Follow
US-460BR.Merge onto 460W.  Turn right onto VA-49/Watson's Wood Road. 
Turn right onto Patrick Henry Highway/US-360E.  Turn right onto VA-656.
