I would like to remind everyone of the current A&S competitions and
classes being held at Ymir.
The theme this year will be Viking items and crafts to "Keep the Winter
at Bay". These would include items that keep you warm (in body or
spirit), or things that are either made by or produce heat, or that
distract you from the cold. Documentation is highly recommended. All
entries must be in place by 1:00 PM. (Please remember this is a dry
site, so alcoholic entries are not permitted) For those not wishing to
compete, there will also be a "Display Only" area.
***As this is a very wide open theme, if you are knowledgeable about a
area, and would be willing to help judge, please come by and register
with me by 1.
Lady Rowen the Shiftless, Scrivener Royal, is sponsoring a competition
for Illumination. Entries must have documentation, but can be in the
style of any time period. For more details contact Lady Rowen directly
at rowencat at yahoo.com or call her at (843) 871-6832.
Baroness Rachel is sponsoring a "Best Documentation" for any of the
above.
Schedule for competitions and classes (subject to rearranging due to
courts):
11:00 AM A&S Competition/Display setup opens
1:00 PM A&S Competition entry closes-All entries must be in place so
that judging may begin.
4:00 A&S entries may be picked up. (Must be picked up by 5 PM)
We are also offering classes to entertain and inform. They are:
12:00 noon Hnefatafl: Strategy Game of the Vikings (Sveva Lucciola)
1:00 Easy Edge Embroidery (Mistress Clare Hele)
3:00 Norse Beads (Mistress Isabel Ulfsdottir)
All of these A&S Activities will be located in the Feast Hall.
I would also like to remind everyone bringing items for the Gulf Wars
Gift Baskets, that there will be donation area by the A&S tables in the
Feast Hall.
There will also be a "Weapons Container" contest sponsored by Lady
Rosalind Delamere and Lord Gaston Valmont. Entries should be items
such as weapon boxes, racks, bags or other things that add to the
period ambiance of the field, and help prevent the sideline sprawl.
Entries should be brought to the FIELD at the beginning of
authorizations. No Documentation is required for this particular
contest.

=====
"If the world were merely seductive, that would be easy.
If it were merely challenging, that would be no problem.
But I arise in the morning torn between the desire to improve the world,
and a desire to enjoy the world.
This makes it hard to plan the day."
