In reply to Gunther's post, I would like to say that he is entirely right about Nick Evangelista and FQM being not too well liked by the biggest part of the modern sport fencing community. Nick, and the magazine he edits, are strongly critical of the direction modern fencing has taken. However, it is read by many fencers, both classical and modern, even if it is more of a minority voice in the overall community, so it is well worth our having something published there. I sincerely doubt that a "mainstream" fencing magazine would be even remotely interested in hearing from us at all, not to mention being willing to print a series of articles. I strongly urge anyone with writing talent, or just something interesting to say, to submit an article to him, if for no other reason than to show our appreciation and support of his interest in us and our activities. Positive publicity for the SCA is always good, and you just might have the satisfaction of seeing your name in print!

Greetings fellow Atlantians....
Just as a word of caution, if you truly want your voice heard (or SCA
rapier's voice heard) in a positive light by the sport fencing community,
Nick Evangelista may not be your best bet. He has some pretty significant
negative buzz in the circles I run in in the sport world. I have never met
him myself and am sure he's a fine fellow, but just keep any of your
objectives in perspective with the engine you're planning on using. If you
just want to get an article published in a magazine that focuses on
classical fencing, then you're probably ok :).
