The following is a list of competitions and rules that will take place at Brighthills Birthday celebration:

A&S Competition: Their will be 2 separate competitions. Needlepoint and Jewelry. The pieces need to reflect a style from al-Andalus (Spain) from 750-1450 and can be Moorish, Spanish or Jewish in origin. Documentation is required. (the can be made in advance)

Chess Tourney: There will be 3 age groups: under 12, 13-17, and adult. If there is not enough interest in the under 12 group we may substitute checkers or combine them with the 13-17 group. We will be using the standard rules for the games.

Poetry Competition: The Ideals of "Romantic" love began in al-Andalus and it is also Valentine's Day. In honor we will hold a poetry competition. Poems will be read aloud and a copy will need to be provided. The fair Baroness Cordelia and several other lovely ladies will sit in judgment of the poets. All poets should please contact Lady Juliana or Baroness Rowan for additional details before the event.

Team Mid-Eastern Dance competition: To encourage competitors, we are keeping the rules fairly simple and even novices should have a fair chance to win. 1. the dance performed is "Mid Easter" in style; 2. teams should have at least 3 people and both sexes need to represented. 3. the length of the dance should be between 1 and 3 minutes. Music can be either recorded or live. The competition will take place during the afternoon court.
