[MR] Attention, Heralds: Information on January 2004 Internal Letter of Intent

My apologies to the non-heraldic community for taking up bandwidth in this
manner, but I have just been notified by my ISP that an "interesting" DOS
firestorm has all AOL mail servers and at least some hotmail and yahoo mail
servers blocking all mail from InfoAvenue and all its franchisees, including
Charleston.net.

As this problem may cause this time sensitive information to reach only half
the members of the internal submission mailing list, I beg your indulgence,
hopefully for the last time:

Unfortunately, thanks to the holidays and some urgent upgrades to the
software on the kingdom server, our kingdom web minister was not able to get
the heraldic submissions listserve and file storage area up and running in
time for the first internal letter of intent which I had promised for today.

Therefore, I have posted that letter in Word format in the old Yahoo files
section for the convenience of those who are already signed up for that.
Unfortunately, the file limits on the Yahoo site prevented me uploading an
RTF copy since that format is considerably larger, even when zipped. (I'm
still having a few technical problems with the Acrobat PDF generation and
the latest version of the word processing software.)

As I know there are many of you who do not wish to expose your systems to
Yahoo, it had been my original plan to email the document to you all as an
attachment, but I know that could cause problems for some of you as the
unzipped file is nearly 3MB and the compressed file not much less.
Therefore, if you wish to participate and do not wish to use the Yahoo FTP
site, I would ask you to email me your file format preference and I will do
my best to accommodate it.

Current formats (with file sizes) already available include:

1. Word format unzipped (approximately 2.7 MB)
2. Word format zipped (approximately 2.4 MB)
3. RTF format zipped (approximately 5.2 MB)
4. HTML format unzipped (approximately 4.1 MB)
5. HTML format zipped (approximately 2.7 MB)

And, of course, I will be happy to send you a paper copy by snail mail if
you provide your current postal address to me.

I am sorry that we are off to such a rough start, but hopefully things will
be a bit smoother once we are away from Yahoo and various ISP's get over
their holiday upgrade glitches!

Your servant,

Alisoun
