[MR] that cool red italian hat

i am trying to find someone who can make that cool
italian hat seen in many Renaissance pictures. there
are two hats you see a lot, the first, which looks
like a red stocking cap, is readily available. the
second looks like it is made of felted wool, and
appears to be almost flat on top. to see both of them,

the one on the right is the one i am after. it is
sometimes referred to as a "Ducal" hat, but from the
pictures i have seen, i can't be reserved for Dukes
because many people seem to be wearing them. check out

which is a different part of the same picture. note
that not only is the Duke wearing one, but so is the
guy above and behind him, and also the guy standing
holding his gloves. not also, the man in Black, who
has a black version. having looked at all of the
Camera Degli Sposi (Ducal Palace, Mantua) photos, i
can see at least 3 colors of the same hat, and
probably 4, red, black, purple, and possibly grey. 

is there anyone out there who can make them? since my
skills with fabric are grossly limited, i would like
to commission at least one made. i would be proud to
wear it around, and, in addition to the money for
making it, you will receive the adoration of all those
in awe of the coolest hat in the known world. in fact,
unless we see Count Guido around again, no one would
even be close to having as cool a hat!  

if you can make this hat, or know anyone who can,
please contact me so that we can work out a fair
price. i plan to go to Pennsic this year, so if i can,
i would like to wear one there.
