Hearken all Gentles and hear my words:

The Winter time has come, the rivers froze to ice,

But in the Shire's halls, the fires are warmly nice,

But now comes the Dance of the Bear!

Hence Calliope and her maids so fair,

Have sent out word both far and near,

Summoning their Bards, who they hold so dear,

To compete within the Crannog Mor,

To ease the chills of winter sore,

To sing and dance and story tell,

To play and rhyme, and glorify well,

The Bard's own art and talent weighed,

With songs of love and warriors slayed.

Now come all Bards and execute well,

Thy talents and trade and so excel.

Thou wilt win reward a valued prize,

And perform at feast for their Majesties' eyes.

My Lords and Ladies, the Muses themselves have granted tokens for our
Bards,

To be given as praise for amusing and pleasing us today. The clear azure

spring waters of the Shire have been petrified, and the purpure majesty
of the

mountains sunsets frozen! Revel in the day, and reward the Bards who do
you

well with their array of talents!

Rules of the Bardic Competition for Polar Bear Ball

                                        Shire of Crannog Mor

All Bardic forms are welcomed to this competition. Any and all period
forms of

entertainment are encouraged. The competition will last throughout the
day, and will

be judged by all gentles in attendance.

Upon arrival, each person in attendance, except competing Bards will
receive

three tokens for the competition.

Bards will perform throughout the event, hoping to garner tokens from
the gentles

they perform for in reward for a job well done.

After you have heard or seen a performance, you may give one or all of
your tokens

to the performing Bard, in appreciation for a good performance.
(Consider it that you

have three votes to offer on the competition throughout the day, each
represented by

a token.)

At 5:00pm, all Bards who are in the competition should return to the
Troll booth with

the tokens that they have acquired. The top three Bards will be grated
performance

time during feast to perform for High Table. The Bard receiving the most
tokens will

also win a beautiful, and really nifty prize.
