For all of you NOT at Pennsic:
We are planning to still hold the event. Portsmouth, Virginia, will get
rain (heavy at times) and wind (presently projecting in the 40 mph range)
from Hurricane Charley. The local forecasters are doubting winds will cause
much problems. They are more concerned that the rain-soaked ground may
allow trees to fall over. (We've just had one of the wettest July's on
record.) Please take your time getting to the event. We'd rather see you
late than not at all. We'd rather not see you than have you get hurt.
Please use your best judgment. I'll be there all day anyway. Site
telephone for Saturday only: 757-484-5158.
Directions from the North, West, and South: Please consult a map. Take
your best route to I-664, south of the Monitor-Merrimac Bridge Tunnel. Take
exit 9 heading South, exit 9-B heading North. Bear over to get on Virginia
State Hwy 164, towards Downtown Portsmouth. Take the Cedar Lane exit, bear
right to head South on Cedar Lane. Travel 1.2 miles through 2 lights. Turn
right into St. Christopher's.
Directions from Norfolk and Virginia Beach: Take I-264 through the Downtown
Tunnel. Exit onto Frederick Blvd. Stay on Frederick .9 miles until it ends
at High Street. Turn left onto High Street. Go 2.4 miles. Pass Maryview
Hospital, the Elizabeth River, and the YMCA. Turn right at the light for
Cedar Lane. (If you get to Hardee's, you went too far.) Go .2 miles and
turn left into St. Christopher's.
