My husband happened to drive a good portion of the way to Pennsic on a
trip yesterday, on I-70. He hit Breezewood at around 1:00 pm.
According to Peter, there is construction on 70 just outside
Breezewood, and it's reduced to one lane. However, he never went below
45 mph. (If you're hauling a trailer, you're probably not going much
faster through there anyway.) The PA Turnpike was, well,
turnpike-like. There's a long stretch of construction east of New
Stanton, but no major delays. He said his worst delay was weather
related, when a storm came up that reduced visibility to nothing.
So, I would say, don't fear I-70 to the Turnpike if that's the way
you'd rather travel. Even with the Breezewood construction, it's still
probably faster than I-68.
