Good gentles of Atlantia,

I was at Performers' and Dance Symposium this past weekend and I would
like to say (publicly, obviously) what a wonderful time I had and what a
good job I thought everyone did. : )

Co-autocrats Katriana de Ireland and Senora Graciela Esperanza de Sevilla
worked very very hard to create a smooth event, despite hassles and
university-caused problems. The event was held at Appalachian State
University, and university personnel insisted on tearing down all signs
put up to help guide SCAdians to parking and site. Nevertheless, there
was a respectable turnout and I personally heard many students from
outside the group asking about what we were doing and dropping in on
classes. And Graciela's feast was beyond words, and I'm a bard!
(Especially as she had to cook in one building and serve in another!)
Both of these fine (and very hardworking) ladies deserve a sincere and
noisy "Vivat!"

Even though I was teaching for much of the day, the classes I did get to
attend were interesting, informative, and fun, and James of Middle Aston
planned and MCed a terrific post-feast concert. The ball was also
extremely enjoyable, even though sadly (and somewhat rudely) cut short by
university staff. Despite the university's antagonism, we left their site
in as close to pristine condition as it is humanly possible to manage.

Though I heard that Atlantia may not have a Performers' Symposium next
year, because the Known World Performers' Symposium may be held here, I
think this is a terrific event that should be carried on year after year.
Great food, great people, lots of learning, and university credit for
students too--what's not to like?

In service to Atlantia and the Bardic Arts,
Lady Eleanor Percy
