Lady Catriona,
I am currently working with sunbrella fabric and I will
mail you a sample of what it feels like. Possibly
there are difference grades, but I think you will find
that it is not heavy or cumbersome at all. In fact, it
is not as stiff as fabric we have used to line our
bodices with. It is like a stiff twill, and about the
same weight. The awnings that I have on my porch are
in sunbrella and I have had them for 15 years. They do
not leak and the air does not get stuck under the porch
any more so than canvas, or anything other than having
it open. Yes it is more expensive, but there is a
reason, it is really a superior fabric to canvas. Why
else would it cost more? I guess it is just a matter
of opinion to what you prefer to do.
Hope to see you at Blue Moon,
Nanne
