[MR] Quik Shade Tent Conversion

Can anyone give me advice on doing the following:

I would like to use my 12 x 12 dayshade as a tent for camping.  I have already added dags to the existing red top and it looks very period.  For the walls, I would like to use Sunbrella in a natural color.  I don't think the Quik Shade frame could take the weight of regular sunforger canvas.  Here are my questions:

1) Would the Sunbrella sufficiently repel rain, yet still breath like canvas?
2) With ropes and stakes at each of the 4 corners, would my dayshade be sturdy enough considering the additonal weight of the sunbrella walls?

Any advice on this subject, would be greatly appreciated.
