Fellow Atlantians,
Now that I've had a few days to investigate the scope of the conspiracy that
led up to a wonderful day for me last weekend, a few words of gratitude are
appropriate.
First, to Their Graces, Duchess Kyneburh and Dude Ragnarr, and to Their
Majesties, Queen Padraigin and King Cuan, your faith in me is touching,
inspiring and much appreciated.
Thank you Mistress Jessamyn, my 'Big Sister Laurel,' for making the day so
wonderful and so SECRET. lol Lord Wolfram and Lady Louise, thank you for
your pavilion, your hard work and your excellent 'guarding.'
Baronesses Kisaiya, the Hospitality spread you provided was exquisite.
Baroness Fiona and Lady Oddny (aka Seraphina), your food was delicious,
lovely and oh-so-German. Thank you Monya, and Aszony Rozsa for all the
support that you provided.
Thank you, Lord Bjorn, Lady Margaret, and Lady Katerina for all your hard
work in organizing the ceremony. I adore you all, but karma will get you for
lying to your mother for 3 months! lol Lady Mor (aka Grandmor), Baron
Alejandro, and Baroness Benefse you aided and abetted them in their schemes
and are to be commended. ;-)
All the peers who spoke for me, or sent words for others to read, were
incredibly kind, and I will work hard to keep you all truthful :-) Master
Eldred, Duchess Simone (and Duchess Kyneburh), Mistress Jessamyn, you have
all taught me the power of the words that I was reminded during the day so
many times to use carefully.
And thank you, Duke Logan, for spending 10 hours on the road to say very
nice things about me and my family. It means the world to me.
Mistress Jessamyn, I love that you prepared a beautiful mantle for me, and
even included a bit of Cleo as a gift. Mistress Elizabeth, you have been an
inspiration to me for years, and I shall treasure your medallion, and
appreciate Dame Roksane's reading of your accompanying note. Mistress
Deirdre and Lady Brandwen you did a spectacular job of capturing my
favorite fiber tools and symbols in the lovely scroll, it is a true and
personal work of art. I don't know who did the German translation, but it
adds another layer of beauty and validation. Lord Christian, you read that
scroll just like one of my forefathers would have said it. :-)
I have been blessed to be a member of the Barony of the Sacred Stone and
the Canton of Aire Faucon where folks have been so patient and supportive of
my obsessions and fiber compulsions. You have all shown me what a great game
this is.
SCA is one of the few places I know where one can be overwhelmed with
feelings of pride, gratitude and humility simultaneously. Last Saturday was
certainly a day full of such feelings.
In Service to Atlantia,
Meisterin Susanna von Schweissguth, OL
