[MR] Seen in New Jersey

On my way home to Baltimore from New York via Amtrak, I saw the most
fascinating sculpture just north of the Trenton NJ station. A stylized
Landsknecht on horseback. I assume that it's a monument of some kind,
but it's kinda hard to read the inscription from the moving train <g>.
Anyone know what this is and why it's there?
