Thanks for bringing this up.  Although mankind has
survived for untold ages without cellphones, my boss
has the impression that my coworkers cannot survive a
week without being able to contact me.  I could not
have gone to Pennsic this year without the pager and
the cellphone.  Also, since I am the caretaker and POA
of my mother who suffers from Alzheimers, the nursing
home has to be able to contact me.  

However, I put both of my devices on vibrate, buried
them in a basket or pouch and when they went off (and
they did) I went to some effort to get away from
things medieval before I dialed back and started
talking about PeopleSoft and database calls.
