I believe you are thinking of _Fallen_Angels_, by Larry Niven and
Jerry Pournelle. Published by BAEN books, 

The astronauts are rescued by members of Science Fiction Fandom, at
the onset of the next (as in, next week) ice age.

The set up gets a bit complex, but the fen are now an underground
movement, since the Greens and the Luddites have banned much of
technology -- and all attempts to advance it.

The SCA are not underground (since the emphasize what are considered
"appropriate" technologies), but given the overlap between the SCA and
Fandom, our heroes receive assistance from SCAdians along the way.
