As a recent transplant from Ansteorra, I have been following the new
armor appearance rules debate with interest. I will withhold judgement
until I see the implementation, although both sides have made good
points here. I think I'm personally in pretty good shape except for my
green nylon-sided combat boots (hey, they were free), but I've been
meaning to replace them anyway.
On a side note, the word "kit" stood out for me even before it was
brought up as un-period, because it isn't used much where I'm from. I
guess the closest equivalent would be just "gear", although try to say
"harness" rather than "armor" to be a bit more period. I have some
