Vladimir and I have a standing offer for those who want to get equipped
in reasonable looking gear inexpensively.
We'll open up our shop and show you what you need to know in order to
make your own basic gear.
You either:
a) pay for the materials you use, or
b) make two sets and give us one to sell for the cost of both sets of
materials.
For example, making a helm will cost you between $15 and $20.
A helm, legs, arms, breast and back plate, half gauntlets and gorget
will cost you less than $100 in materials.
Or, if you make two sets, it won't cost you a thing.
You get the satisfaction of learning how to make your own armour, making
it, and showing it off to your friends.
We get a new friend on the fighting field.
Making reasonable looking armour just isn't that hard.
Vladimir made his first helm with a whopping 15 minutes of instruction.
The nice thing is, when you want to get fancier armour, you can either
come back and make yourself a better set or buy one from somewhere else.
Then you can sell the kit you made for what it cost you to another new
fighter!
If you don't live near us, arrange to come down for a weekend to get
started. You'll cut out the pieces and learn how to shape them.
We'll send you home with a stump for dishing the metal, your pieces and
patterns, and the necessary rivets to fasten them together. You can
finish it with simple tools you can easily borrow or buy if you don't
already have them. (A ballpean hammer, a drill, a few clamps, and a
piece of metal to pound rivets against.)
