So I just signed up on the list and read through some of the threads. I see
the arguments about the new rules to cover plastic and boots are still in
debate. I for one like them. I want to address the fact some think we will
exclude new fighters, I don't think so. Really all we are requiring
different is for you to hide the plastic or to buy another cheap product
instead. If it takes a guy an extra week to get on the field to cover his
plastic or paint it and he spends $10 or so bucks to do so what is the big
deal?
As for the show us you harness here you go, only real picture I got (I am on
the right):

I have the red legs and shoes on. I made the arms and legs with leather that
cost $70 with shipping, the elbow and knee cops were $30, the CoP what $60
and is canvas covered and a perfect copy too, the spaulders are $20. Helm
cost a bunch but is much better that a typical starter, and I have a Forths
maille coif under it. I also happen to have revival shoes on $60 at Pennsic.
So besides the helm and coif the armor cost $180, which is less than a Dark
Victory set, it also took only 10 hours to cut the leather, dye it, and
rivet it.
BTW I got authorized this year, this is my first kit and it is far beyond
the requirements of the new rules and I did it inexpensively.
Also on the Garb end of things I made my first all wool and linen outfit
last year in the summer and a wool tunic, hat, and chausses with linen
braies and undertunic and a pair of boots made of 4 oz uppers and 9oz for
the sole cost me 65$ in materials to make and was all based off historic
pieces. This outfit has already outlived any cotton one I made and will be
around for years to come.
