My favorite way to make authenticity more attainable is simply the
spread of information! If you make something authentic, write about it
and spead it around! Web sites can be made with little knowledge and
are free (if annoying). Editors of publications such as the Oak, TI,
and your Baronial newsletter LOVE to have stuff to publish.

Yep, I'm working on it myself. Syr Richard and I made a collapsable
chair, and I've posted pictures of it. The text is still being worked
on, but the pictures are viewable here (warning: the Clemson server is a
bit flaky, try back later if it's not working). The first picture is
the inspiration piece.

Yes, it folds flat! You can get two of them from a sheet of plywood and
a closet dowel (or two, I forget how many closet dowels we needed for
the set of four chairs).

It's more comfortable than the coleman chairs because of the padding and
the fact that it encourages you to sit up straight (slouching hurts my
back and that's the only way you can sit in the coleman chairs), and WAY
better looking.
