>For those people who started with plastic armor, how
>many tourneys did you actually fight with it before
>you decided you wanted something stronger?
1 year ... probably 3 events (lived in the boonies at the time), regular
weekly fighter practices. Although, 80% or so of the plastic was covered
by a big ole tabard. lower arms & lower legs still showed. This was
plastic ALL over, PVC greaves/knees, PVC/Plastic splint arms, Burger King
Pickle Barrel Lorica Segmentica, plastic gorget. Yes, It is the Teenage
Mutant Ninja Turtle Armor. Hence the immediate reason to put a tabard over it.
Next 1 year ... switched to metal legs, 'hidden plastic' brigantine, metal
spaulders, leather arms, plastic gorget still, PVC half-gauntlets still.
Some X years later (forward to modern days) ... Somewhere along the way the
gorget & half-gauntlets got replaced with leather, and current kit is:
leather/metal legs, leather/metal arms, a different 'hidden plastic'
brigantine, Bishop's Mantle, leather half-gauntlets & gorget.
