[MR] cheap armor

   I'm all for someone getting into armor as cheaply as possible. Having to 
play on a budget, I've always looked for the best bargains. Paying a couple of 
hundred bucks for barrel plastic armor is just plain nuts. Not even addressing 
the issues of it being hideously ugly and the relative lack of safety in 
armoring your joints with a flexible material, it costs about 30 bucks to make a 
suit like that and takes less than four hours labor. The only specialty tools 
needed are a jigsaw and a drill....
   My armor is leather and stainless and, not counting my helm, my whole rig 
cost me less than 150. You just have to shop around a bit and be willing to 
ask for help on putting things together. I know how to make armor because 
numerous people took the time to show me. I have, in turn, taught many fighters how 
to make their own within whatever budgets they had. Being financially 
challenged is no reason to not have safe, period looking armor...
