Greetings Atlantia,

I'm posting again the details of the Tempore Atlantia competitions
that will take place at Crown Tournament on November 1. A few of
the competitions have been updated, and one has been added, so
please read the descriptions carefully.

Skein Competition - sponsored by Lady AElfwynn of Whitby. The
skeins need to have been spun on a drop spindle from any fiber
in use before 1000 AD. Documentation is a must. Please include
in your documentation the time period and geographic location,
materials, methods, what you plan to do with your yarn, and a
bibliography. When describing your methods, please include any
processing steps. The more steps you've done the better. Did you
grow the critter/plant, harvest it, wash it, dye it, process it,
and then spin it or did you spin from prepared fiber? Did you make
any of your tools along the way? (Spinning from fiber you washed,
combed, and dyed will most likely get a higher score than yarn from
commercially prepared fiber.) The skein can be any size, singles or
plied and you can enter as many skeins as you want. Each entrant
will receive a small token, and the winner will receive a drop spindle
from Spanish Peacock and a bag of wool.

Game Research Competition - sponsored by Baroness Agnes Daunce. The
participants are to provide information on the games/competitions
played by adults, children, or adults and children. The prize is two
games to the winner. Papers should be between 3 - 6 pages (not
including bibliography or appendices), double spaced in 12 point
font (Arial or Times New Roman only, please - no calligraphy fonts!).
Pages should be printed neatly and stapled together. They are due at
Crown Tourney, no later than 11 am.

Fabric Research Competition - sponsored by Baroness Agnes Daunce.
The participants are to provide a research paper on the evolution and
uses of fabric during this time. Providing swatches of fabric would be
excellent. Or,better still, examples of how the fabric was used, such
as for table setting, hats, aprons, etc.The prize is five yards of
fabric to the winner. Papers should be between 3 - 6 pages (not
including bibliography or appendices), double spaced in 12 point font
(Arial or Times New Roman only, please - no calligraphy fonts!). Pages
should be printed neatly and stapled together. They are due at Crown
Tourney, no later than 11 am.

Table Setting Display Competition - sponsored by Baroness Kaleeb of
Tir-y-Don. This is a competition for best feast table or place setting,
preferably for 2-4 people. Bonus points will be given to entries using
blue and white as a color scheme, though any spiffy display will be judged.
Extra points will also be given to period displays, particularly early
period. The prize is four hand thrown tigs (multi-handled tavern mugs) to
the winner, chosen by Her Excellency.

Please let me know if there are any questions regarding the competitions.

La vostra in servizio,
--Giuliana Salviati
