Greetings Good Gentles!

Marshals, fighters, chirurgeons, water bearers, oh my!

 I have exciting news- Along with the all the hard work and fun we are 
planning for Kingdom Crusades the weekend of October 10th – 12th ,in Darlington, 
Maryland we have Chirurgeon type activities, too! Please forward this any of your 
e-lists.
 Particularly those in the East Kingdom ;-) 

In our line of service we have ever changing modern technology and guidelines 
to apply, updated rules, reporting requirements, events to coordinate, 
training to arrange and as an inter-kingdom event we have lot’s of people coming to 
and working at Crusades that we don’t see frequently. Soooooooo……  On the 
battle field in or around the Chirurgeon tent there will be activities! 
Including, discussion groups, KC office hours, and a Book Display!! 

The details follow, so please consider stopping by and joining a discussion, 
bring books to share, pick up a book list, and give us input on the topics 
important to you for our next one ;-)  
Book display. Approximately 11:00am – 4:30pm

Bring your favorite chirurgeon books to display! Books on all aspects of our 
craft, from period leechcraft, medical history books, midwifery, medical 
encyclopedia's, modern treatment books, camping and safety books, SCA publications 
you find helpful.... Come by and pick up the book list and check out the 
books!

Morning Discussion/workshop:    Battlefield Conduct- Functioning as part of

Discussion for all chirurgeons, plus marshals, water bearers, heralds, newbie’
s, apprentices and even fighters.
Areas/topics include: 

Fighters Bill of Rights
Rules of the list
Who are they?- identifying important people, like CIC, MOL, MIC, WIC, Royals 
and the like
When to enter the field
How to register a complaint
Keeping track of patients armor
Policies to know- water bearing, apprenticing, CICing and the like
Open stories, examples, and discussion through out 

 Afternoon Discussion/workshop:   Squirrel Avoidance (working title)- Keeping 
rabies out of the chirurgeonate             3:00pm             Chirurgeon 
tent

A discussion for all. Practicing chirurgeons, retired chirurgeons, Marshals, 
apprentices, mentoring masters & journeyman, even KC's and their officers.

Areas/topics include:       
How you sound- the effect your voice & vocabulary choices have.               
                                 How you look- Panic can be contagious. 
Maintaining the appearance of composure           when it hit’s the fan!
Say What?-  Instilling confidence vs. Fear, political correctness, 
confidentiality, conveying policies politely and positively, and gentle responses to 
meanies.
Building trust
When and how to leave
Mentoring a squirrel
Open stories, examples, and discussion through out 

It’s a going to be a busy and fun day! Chirurgeons for battlefield support 
are needed, too!
