in my four reigns i have only banished one person. we waited until the
evidence was presented and judgment passed. regardless of the fact that the
person was banished form another kingdom already and found guilty of some
associated crimes. we had to wait until innocence was not an option.
during another reign i escorted police to arrest a man for allegedly raping
a women at an event. we did not move to banish at that time and were
informed later that the charges where dropped and that he didnt do what he
was accused of.

good thing all the gung-ho people were soundly asleep at the time.

ps funny, ive been accused of things too that have never happened. the sca
thrives off of bs like that. this may well be yet another case of some
toads writing letters about guns or whatever. waiting until the courts
decide and the facts are out there is the only way to proceed. gorm is 100%
on target with his commentary.

Yes, we do, as all states do.

The key, though, is "convicted". Even if you have pled guilty, you have
not been "convicted" until the judge accepts the plea, and sentence is
passed.

It is possible that a judge will not accept a guilty plea, if the judge
believes it was coerced, or is made without knowledge of the consequences,
or other such things.

It has happened that someone has "pled guilty", and then later been
exonerated at trial after the judge did not accept the plea.

So, in short, it ain't over until it's over. And punishments don't take
effect until it's over and done with.

Now, should the SCA, Inc encourage someone who is in the process of
pleading guilty to handle children's activities? No, not at all. But
acting to banish someone is potentially premature at that point. I would
not blame the monarchs at all for delaying that action until it was obvious
the process was complete.

Admittedly, I have no children, nor am I likely to, but still, people have
rights.
