The original post was about racing dogs, in particular
greyhounds and whippets(sp?), and more specificly dog
owners who participated in coursing in the SCA. So the
question is "Have you heard of anyone WHO COURSES DOGS
IN THE SCA that spent the money on a pure bred
COURSING dog?" For what it's worth, the few dog owners
who course their dogs at SCA events that I have met
have been racetrack rescued dogs, and one whippet that
was breeder bought. I certainly have nothing against
buying breeder dogs or breeding them in general, but
in the case of racing dogs, and due mostly to my
frugal nature, it would seem innefficient and wasteful
to buy or breed them when there are so many of them
being destroyed after they are past their racing
prime.
