two comments.
regardless of whether or not the archives are available to this or any other
email "discussion" group the sca inc does not sponsor nor support this as
anything having to do with it as a corporation. email lists are not under
their control.
second, i have been aware of the situation in pa since the night it
happened. there are many people on both sides of the fence as to the
validity of the charges. it must be reminded that these are only charges at
this point. this man is innocent until he has been proven guilty. so all
the cries of "had it been my kid" or "give me two minutes with him and my
axe" and others serve no purpose. the sca thrives on gossip and innuendo as
its lifes blood and this does nothing but further feed that silliness.
discussing ways to serve the children of the sca is certainly in order.
security is, unfortunately, a requirement in this organization as in any
other. if there is some policy that needs to be incorporated to ensure the
safety of children i am sure that the minister of minors would love to hear
from you. her information is located in the acorn.
regards
logan

Nonsense! Whereas we need not discuss the particulars of the alleged
incident, it is important that we address issues, publicly, so that all may
be aware of any attentions that are needed.
In that light, our children participate, but we are still their responsible
parents. Where our volunteering and participation may become limited to
children's activities, the children, in turn, have to spectate (aka, my own
personal cheering section) at my activity for a time so that I may
participate where I wish, as well. That is only fair to both parties and
permits us to participate as a family. INasmuch, the children learn about
adult events at this time and participate in cleanup where help is always
needed and the responsibility of all.
The Pages' Academy, for ages 9-14, requires a sponsor. I presume any parent
would choose someone they trust to fill this role and when the sponsor
accompanies the child at an activity, this gives the parent other
opportunities and/or includes the parent so that the child gets a double
dose of right kind of attention.
I certainly hope that no parent entrusts his/her child to just anyone. It
would be foolish and unfair to the child who is a trusting, loving soul.
Respectfully,
Alexandra,
whose entourage includes 4 of her own and several "other family" teens
