I flew just weeks after 9/11, and they made me get rid of my teeny scissors.
Or rather they said I could put them in my checked baggage if I wanted to. so
it seems that if you want to sew when you arrive, check your pointy stuff, but
don't plan to snip anything on the plane. On the other hand, they didn't react
to the needles or pins, and let me keep them. I figured that next time I
wanted to embroider on the plane, I'd use one of those little blades that come
inside the end of plastic needle threaders - definitely all you could cut with
them is thread. Or just snip the thread with my teeth like I used to until my
