I just looked at their website, and nail clippers and tweezers are OK, but cork screws and metal nail files are not, so I'm just not sure about the needles and seam ripper. And yes, scissors are right out. I think I may just call the airline to be sure.
thanks again for your time,

Isobel,

I suggest calling the airline to find out what they will allow. Scissors are an absolute no go. They will confiscate them. I don't know about needles, but I'm fairly sure if they think toe nail clippers are a weapon, they will probally say the same about a seam ripper.

Subject: [campfire] sewing notions on airplane?

Greetings,

I will be traveling via airplane for the first time since 9/11 (I don't fly that often) and I was wondering, what are the restrictions for bringing sewing supplies these days? I'd like to work on some hand sewing, but I'm thinking I might get a hard time about bringing sewing needles, a seam ripper, or the little sewing scissors with me. Has anyone else dealt with this? I am flying with United Airlines if that makes a difference. Thanks for your time.

I remain,
Isobel
