Dear Costumers, Historians and Re-enactors,
Yesterday afternoon I was given the sad news that Jean Hunnisett (of Period
Costume for Stage and Screen) died in her sleep in early hours of the
morning.
I was informed about this by a very old friend (20 years standing) of
Jean's. This friend is Suzi Clarke (www.suziclarke.co.uk). She is a
costumer herself and was taught by, as well as being, a close friend of
Jean's.
Suzi is, of course, terribly upset by Jean's death. If anyone would wish to
send their commiserations and best wishes, Suzi has said she would not mind
at all (but it may be a while to reply!). Her e-mail is on her website.
Jean had been suffering from terminal lung cancer and for the past week
had been in a coma. She died with another close friend holding her hand. Her
funeral is to be held sometime in the next week.
Another light has gone from the costuming world but I am sure you will
all agree that Jean will be remembered fondly by us all for her wonderful
work.
I hope that Janet Arnold will be now welcoming Jean in Heaven (they knew
each other very well in life too).
Kind regards to all,
Bess Chilver (UK)
