Subject: [Lochmere] chainmail class at MICA

For anyone who may be interested, the Maryland Institute College of Art
(MICA) is offering a class on making chainmail. The course description
reads: In this course,
students learn to make several different types of chainmail that can be
used on its own or incorporated into other metalworking techniques and
ideas. Students learn to make European, Japanese, and Persian
chainmail, as well as variations of these patterns. Both traditional
and modern usages for chainmail are demonstrated and discussed. Such
usage includes different types of armor, sculptural components, and
jewelry elements. Large-scale jump-ring production, wire manipulation,
and use of power equipment and
flex shafts are covered.

The class runs from June 5-July 24, Thursdays, 6-10 p.m. The cost is
$235 (if you audit the class) plus a $35 studio fee. It's held at the
MICA Jewelry Center at Meadow Mill.

You can probably find more information on their website - www.mica.edu.
The class is listed under Jewelry.
