I dont know about any websites where you can go, but I
can give you a quick tutorial in how I did mine. The
torse is a tube, sewn approximately one inch wide
flat, and three inches longer than the circumference
of the helm. You will be turning the ends a bit to
make a nice seam, and you lose a small bit of length
when you stuff it and circle the helm, so I add the
three inches and cut a bit off after I know how long
it has to be. After it is sewn, turned (use a long
handled wooden sppon to help here), and stuffed, is
wrapped it in contrasting ribbon, tackstiching the
ribbon down at either end. The mantle is a vaguely fan
shaped thing, at the top it is the same length as the
circumfrence of the helm minus the grill area. At the
bottom it is 4 or 6 inches wider, approximately the
distance of your shoulders, and the length is up to
personal prefference. Be sure to ive it some length
though, too short and it will want to ride up to your
neck or flip over the helm a lot. That's all there is
to it. As to period examples, I seem to remember the
Codex Manesse and the macijewski Bible both having
excellent pictures of torse and mantle. Plenty of
crests in there too. I am trying to figure out the
easiest way to make a gryphon segreant crest for my
helm at the moment. Good luck,
