A few points.

1)  Authentic/Period does not mean Harsh and Discordant.  Where did this
idea come from?
2)  You get what you pay for.  $20 trumpets are generally more suited for
hanging on a wall rather than playing (See point 1).
3)  Be aware that valves are Non-Period (They were invented in the 1800's).

FYI -- I am not a subscriber, so I will miss any replies sent only to the

Darn, I had just found that, and now you are going to have everyone buying
one and running the ebay price up :)

Luckily, I've seen this company on Ebay before, and everything that they
sell, they continue to sell, frequently, often, and with same prices.

So this simple herald trumpet you could buy at almost any time for the $15
and $20 shipping.

And, it should work just fine for simple fanfares (Think military 'taps' or
'revelle' type fanfares)  No valves means less notes :)

The other, more expensive one, would work for much much more :) (but is
$125)
