Two more letters have passed into our hands.  It is unclear if these two are aware that others are seeking the same treasure.   We will remain ever in your service.

To Helmut,                                                                                                            What adventures you are missing my old friend.  Just the other day as we were coming out of the forest we saw a group of men liberating a few cows from a local Baron.  Despite their unsavory habit of cow stealing, I felt they were of good heart.  They invited us to share their fire and we dined well this night.  Perhaps there was too much drinking, but we all know how well I can handle strong ale.  When we awoke, our new friends had already left.  We also found that our pack animals had left.  I still have my gold only because I keep it hidden in my cloak.  I really must thank you for teaching me that on our previous journeys.

My Esteemed Patron,
The clues that have led me to Venice have proven false.  My funds have been severely depleted by these thieving Venetians.  Having dealt with them as I saw fit, I am now forced to leave Venice in haste.  I shall draw additional funds at the next available opportunity.
