i wanted to take a moment to thank their excellencies of stierbach for
hosting me and the people of those lands for reminding me of the things i
like about the sca. we were welcomed warmly and courteously after our long
trip and our needs were taken care of with care and attentiveness. the
field looked great, the people dressed well, and the items along the field
added to the event. the a&s displays, while small, were a delight and the
staff were always friendly and interested. hats off to honora for doing a
fine job and to her entire staff for making the event flawless (or, at
least, seem that way). the feast was massive and was very well planned,
presented and managed. i was impressed with it and look forward to seeing
more.
this was, by far, one of my favorite events in a long time and i have been
to a bunch of good ones! thank you mika and ursula and all of stierbach
(especially meli!)!!
regards
logan

Subject: [MR] If you miss the Stierbach Baronial Birthday, you missed a great
event
Greetings dear gentles,
I wanted to mention the Stierbach Baronial Birthday held this weekend. Dear
gentles - it was a fun event! His Majesty was in great form. He fought on
the
field, and the fighters that attended had a rare treat. His Highness
marshaled
on the field, and Her Highness attended - much to Stierbach's delight.
Our idea to add a "solar" where people could sit, watch the field, sew,
converse, listen to traveling players and bards - was a huge success.
People loved
having such a place to sit and enjoy their day. And our volunteer basket
raffle was a hit. We had people volunteering throughout the day in order to
have a
chance at the nine lovely baskets put together by Atlantian gentles. (Our
thanks to Thomas of Calais, Tso Wen-Chi, the Bright Hills Barony, Ursula
D'Arcy,
Mary-Grace of Gatland, and Ponte Alto's--Denise Duvalier, Courtney de
Houghton, Katherine Devereaux, Melissent d'Artois, and Cassandra Arabella
Giordani for
donating the baskets, and the items for the baskets)
New Stierbach Baronial champions were chosen. Awards were given - both royal
and baronial (separate reports will go out from the heralds to the
appropriate
authorities), and prizes were awarded for those fighters and archers who won
the day. Even our young gentles received prices for a scavenger hunt and
riddle games.
The sky Friday evening was clear and bright blue during setup. Late evening,
we could even see stars. Saturday and Sunday mornings dawned bring and clear
-
that lovely yellow thing we have missed recently made a stunning appearance
in the sky. Though a few clouds passed by on Saturday, and occasionally spit
a
couple of drops, the clouds passed by quickly, and by time for Court, we had
blue sky again, and sunshine so bright it almost blinded us -- oh wait,
maybe
that was just His Majesty.
To announce feast, a suckling pig and armored cock were paraded into court
before His Majesty, their Highnesses and their Excellencies. And we had
fanfare
and trumpeters. With feast came refined music by Ponte Alto's Harp and Drum,
a
lovely bardic song, and a feast fit to stretch the seams of your garb. And
for late entertainment, a large Bardic was held into the wee-hours.
Much fun was had by all....it is just too bad if you missed the event...but
there is always next year.
Regards,
Honora
