To the Populace of the Mighty Kingdom of Atlantia and to Our Noble Cousins to
the Four Corners of the Knowne World:
With great inspiration comes great deeds.
The Canton of Baelfire Dunn and The Company of the Phoenix here by issues a
challenge of Combat a' la plaisance. To take place on the 15th day of November
in the year of our Lord 2003 A.S. XXXVIII. Site TBA.
All those wishing to participate in this Pas d' Armes shall be of noble
intentions without reproach. In the spirit of our ancestors we shall assemble in
our finest regalia, of the period, reflecting gentles of the 14th century.
Bearing a Consort, for it is this Consort that Inspires You this day. Bring your
Herald and Your retainers, if you are without a Herald, one can be obtained on
site for a negotiated fee.
Rules of the list:
Item-All combatants must present themselves and their Consort before the
assembled, and tell of why they Inspire You.
Item-All combatants must bear the favor of the Consort they fight for.
Item-In an attempt to recreate the great tournaments of our ancestors all
Combatants and Consorts will need to equip and attire themselves for a gentle of
their stature in period.
Item-All combat shall be counted blows agreed upon on at the onset of combat.
Blows stoutly received shall be verbally acknowledged.
Item-Combat shall consist of greatsword, polearm, sword and shield, or
spear.
Item-Combat will be held in the lists, or at the barrier.
Item-Face thrusts to barred visors shall be the same as no visor. Closed
faced helms will be unaffected by face thrusts.
Item-All combat shall continue until ALL challenges are met.
Grand Melee:
Item-There shall be two teams divided by the Mistress of the Lists.
Item- Combat shall consist of counted blows upon receiving the third blow,
combatants shall return to their banner, and cry their war cry, at this time
they may then return to the fray of combat in the list.
Item-Face thrusts to barred visors shall be the same as no visor. Closed
faced helms will be unaffected by face thrusts.
Item-Combat shall continue for one half of an hour with a hold called at a
quarter of an hour, and combatants on the field will be counted. At the end of
the melee a hold will be called, and all combatants on the field shall be
counted again. The team that has the most combatants on the field at BOTH holds,
shall be declared victorious.
After all honors are paid and received we shall retire to the hall for a
great feast, prepared by Lady Graciela Esperanza de Seilla of the Shire of Cranogg
Mor, and her dedicated and experienced staff. Dishes of the period from
France shall be prepared. The site is DISCREETLY WET. NO original containers. All
table lighting in the feast hall shall be covered, NO open flame.
Period Court Dancing will be held after feast in the hall.
Arts and Sciences
All artisans are encouraged to bring their displays for an open A & S
competition reflecting the arts and sciences of the 14th century. There will be
spaces in the Hall for Living History exibits.
Please bring tokens to leave for the artisans, as there will be no formal
judging.
Merchants are welcomed. Please contact the autocrat to reserve a space in the
hall.
Field space is available for period pavilions ONLY. Please contact the
co-autocrat with your dimension needs. Period and Mundane camping is available to
those wishing to stay on site. There are RV hookups on site, please contact the
co-autocrat, if you need to reserve one of these.
