Greetings My Fellow Atlantians,
This year, Atlantia has been asked to assist with
waterbearing on Tuesday of War Week (August 12th) - each Kingdom is
being assigned a day in order to, hopefully, have things run smoother.
I have agreed to coordinate this endeavor. PLEASE, please, please...if
you have ever benefited from the services of the waterbearers, thought
waterbearing looked like fun (it is!), were interested in waterbearing
in any way, or you just want to help out at Pennsic, please show up to
help at Waterbearer's Point (located right next to Chirurgeon's Point,
not too far from Troll) on Tuesday of War Week. What we need are people
to fill water jugs and to distribute them to their proper field
locations, as well as refilling water jugs throughout the day. You
don't need to volunteer for hours or even to do all three of the above
listed activities....any amount of time that you can donate will be most
heartily appreciated.
In order to fill enough jugs and deliver them to the field
before the morning battles start, I need volunteers at Waterbearer's
Point at 8:00 am, or, as an alternative, the jugs may be filled the
night before (Monday) starting at around 6:00 pm (so that the
waterbearers have time to bring the jugs in after the last battle and
sterilize them). If you wish to volunteer and prefer one time over
another (i.e. Monday night vs. Tuesday morning) just try to contact me
and let me know so that I know what to plan for. We have, literally,
hundreds of water jugs to fill in order to ensure that there is enough
water to keep all of the fighters and spectators properly hydrated.
We will also need volunteers to deliver the jugs to the proper field
sites (which, if it works the same as last year, will be done in a golf
cart, not on foot). In addition, we will need volunteers out on the
fields and at Waterbearer's Point throughout the day in order to refill
water jugs as they get depleted from watering the fighters and
spectators.
Please, if you can help in any way and for any amount of time please do
so. The more people that volunteer, the less time that any one person
will have to spend helping out, and the more we can all enjoy our
Pennsic.
Since I'm not above begging or attempting a guilt trip :-) ....I know
that there are a lot of you out there who have benefited from the
services of the waterbearers, both at Pennsic and at other events. This
is your chance to repay them by helping out a little at a time and place
that it is greatly needed...and be richly appreciated at the same time!
:-)
If you have any questions or wish to contact me to let me know you're
willing to volunteer to help out (though you can just show up, also, if
you want), please feel free to do so. My contact information is
provided below. If you e-mail me and don't hear back from me within a
day, please feel free to call me....my company's computer firewall
occasionally decides to be especially dense and not let through any
e-mail that I might remotely need to see. *sigh*
Thank you all in advance for your assistance and I hope you all have a
wonderful Pennsic! :-)
Yours In Service,
Lady Cicilia Tironi
