[MR] sort of OT soap stamp question

Has anyone experimented with saponification and
various forms of soap stamps? The oldest I've found
(late 1700's) were wood but I'm seeing suggestions
from non chemists that say the rubber stamps work just
fine. If I casted my own soap stamps would pewter
interact with soap that may be saponified but not
cured 100%?
Another suggestion was to glue rubber stamps to the
bottom of soap molds and pour soap over the stamp.
Because of the glue, the stamp stays when you pop out
the soap. Unfortunately this suggestion was from
someone who was using the melt and pour stuff, not CP
soap.
Any experiences with any of these would be greatly
appreciated. I can carve my own stamps out of soft
wood but if I can use the rubber stamps it would be
tons easier!
