That is a link to Vecellio's Woodcuts. That's how he, a Venetian, saw
Spanish dress...

Subject: [MR] need to look Spanish

does anyone know what i'd have to wear to look like a
Spanish military captain from the early 16th century?

I am doing a little Commedia del Arte, and one of the
best characters is Capitano, the bombastic,
ladykilling, but secretly cowardly Spanish Captain.

i was thinking i should look a bit like a
Conquistador, but i couldn't find any pictures of
them. the idea is not to look EXACTLY like a
Conquistador, but to suggest a parody of a foreign
mercenary soldier. Capitano is a figure of fun. i was
figuring that i should start by wearing a morian
helmet and carrying a rapier. Big boots would probably
help.

thanks
Domenico

The greatest writer of the Renaissance was William Shakespeare. He was born
in the year 1564, supposedly on his birthday. He never made much money and
is famous only because of his plays. He wrote tragedies, comedies, and
hysterectomies, all in Islamic pentameter. Romeo and Juliet are an example
of a heroic couple. Romeo's last wish was to be laid by Juliet.
