Well said!
Must this vaguely-worded "show of support" be on paper mail? I notice that
the number of e-mails on this topic is rapidly approaching the number of
polling responses. Perhaps, if a new polling is in order, it could be
conducted by e-mail, both here on the Merry Rose and by copies to all the
local group lists. All in favor reply to one address; opposed like sign.
If you "publish the bans" on three consecutive weeks, I'd wager that the
total replies will quickly mount up to the hundreds.
When senators count public opinion on an issue, they give much more weight
to letters than to e-mails and phone calls, which are relatively effortless.
What that means for us is that broad but "tepid" support requires a
hassle-free poll.
