help all of us at Pennsic. It was seen by me as a really noble cause.

I INTEND to still provide a case of water to Our Sovereigns.

well once again the ugly little head of the gossip train has popped up.
recently some childish people went about publicly claiming that i, as
king, was demanding that each barony provide me with a case of drinking
water for the private use of my encampment.  while these people felt
that i was abusing my power as king they felt that it would be better to
sit in the shadows and spread rumor and innuendo.  while their agenda is
clear, and always has been, they lack the courage to confront someone
when they think an injustice is underway.  to those that heard these
juvenile charges i offer the only correspondence, in its entirety, that
i have had regarding water at pennsic.  read it and judge for yourselves
the character of the mudslingers you call friend.

ive been in the sca for a long time and i know full well that its major
life blood is loose talk and gossip.  i have long been told to ignore
those that spread their filth and vitriol and to "take the higher
ground".  i have grown weary of this and have no reason to sit silently.
i send this out only because i know that the people that sit in dark
little corners and spread venomous hate talk about others will never
come forward and discuss their "issues" with those they attempt to
slander.  nor will they take the time to investigate what they hear
about others but rather take it as the truth.  i find that few people
really know what the word "truth" means.  

i would only ask that each person who reads this take a minute to think
logically before reacting emotionally to the tall tales you hear of
people. the lies bandied about so freely about me and my request of
water to offer to the people of atlantia during our court at pennsic
(hot and dusty) should serve as an example of how easily this type of
stupidity can spread if left unchecked.  i too heard many terrible
things about many people when i first started.  but i judge people based
on my direct and personal interaction with them, not on rumors.  i urge
you all too as well.  gossip is childish and loathsome.  it is a ritual
embraced by men of low character and low quality.  while i am not
surprised by the reports of a few of the individuals that have been
engaged in this slander and i know well the agenda of them and their
brethren i fear that those unknowingly influenced might be lost.  

i am sickened by backstabbing and mudslinging and will, at all points,
directly engage and encounter those that keep this large part of the sca
alive and well.  the truth is the most important thing we have and it
can be used to counter the destructive acts of lesser men.

should anyone take issue with my words i encourage you to seek me out
personally or via my private email address to discuss your concerns.
candor i expected and appreciated.


regarding my plans for court i have offered to refund any purchase
already made (2 of them) and have withdrawn my request.

greeting to you all.  please let me know if there are any landed
baronage not on this list so that our words may be forwarded to them.

very quickly regarding pennsic.  it is our intention to visit with many
of you during your baronial courts.  please forward the times and dates
of your planned courts to us by july 20th.  make sure to copy both her
majesty and myself.

secondly, we invite each of you to join us in grand display at our court
to be held at pennsic.  we expect each of you to arrive at atlantian
royal 45 minutes prior to the scheduled court time.  you will line up in
order of precedence and enter court with us and trhs.  please bring a
herald with you and have them announce you in a personal and inspiring
way.  if you have a champion please present them in full arms to escort
you in.  we would like to see as much pride as you can muster in our
court as we hold you all in deepest regard.  your presentation will be
to the gallery as well as to her majesty, our heirs and myself.  there
will be notables from other kingdoms present and we would like to shove
the pride of atlantia in their faces!! 8^D

third, it is our intention to provide the populace at our court with
refreshments so that they may not sit uncomfortably during our court.
to that end we ask each of you to donate one case (24 bottles) of
auqafina bottled water to be given out tot the populace during court.
please present those to our camp no later than the day before atlantian
court.  any other refreshments you might offer would be nice but water
is crucial with the heat of the day.  my house will be providing some
sort of light sweet snack (read shortbread cookies cuz i love those!).
olives, pickles, cheese, paper towels, etc would be fine.  if not no
worries!.  if you choose not to participate in the water you must inform
me by july 25th as your reasons why so that i understand and so that i
can make sure to provide water for your group.  this is my will and i
have her majestys support in this.  it is not an edict from the "king"
as i have provided an out.  please just communicate with me so that i
know your mind.

we will not allow any modern intrusions into our court at pennsic.
please work with the people of our baronies that we trust you with so
dearly to inform them of this.  i will provide emergency seating for as
many as 20 people should that be needed.  however, there are to be no
coolers, nylon chairs, flash bulbs, or inappropriate garb in our court.
if you find someone in your care that is unable to meet these simple
requirements please inform me personally so that i may aid them.  modern
items required for health or safety are, of course, exempt (gee i can
see it now, the poor guy gets his oxygen tank ripped from his face
because the evil demon logan said none of that in his uppity court!).
