Greetings.
Belphoebe has asked me to attend to this, so here I am attending. If you
have already indicated an interest in this to Belphoebe and have not heard
from me off-list, please contact me by return mail at
deepfatfriar at mindspring.com.
Rules for the Menu Poetry Contest at Performer's Symposium on Feb. 22:
Belphoebe has asked me to attend to this, so here I am attending.
Anyone who is interested in participating should contact me before the
deadline in Rule 1.
1. Participants must register with the Poeta Atlantia no later than February
2.
2. The Poeta will assign the topics, based on the menu, randomly, as soon
after February 2 as the menu becomes available to him. All entrants will
receive this information at the same time. All contestants will be announced
at that time. According to his discretion at that time, the Poeta may or
may not choose to make all assignments known to all participants. (I'm not
being highhanded here--just haven't made up my mind yet!)
3. Participants must either be present at the event or have someone to read
their entry. Those who are present and offering their own entry may not also
read another entry for someone who is not present.
4. Entries must be in a period form. Entrant should state the period form
when reciting, and have a paper copy of period use of the form should it be
requested. (So, if somebody says "I used the limerick form, as found in
Dante," we may see this wonder.)
5. Poem must include the name of the dish(es) and its/their ingredients as
supplied to the Poeta and forwarded to entrant. Entrant is not responsible
for changes in menu after this information is communicated. So if you are
assigned a dish that does not make it to table for any reason, your entry is
still good.
Judge(s) to be determined, but will not include me. I hope to be able to
announce the judge(s)' identity when the topics are assigned.
