As someone who's helped plan and prepare feasts, I can't say that
I'm against the notion.

Some might. On the other hand, if you're planning your feast
around a theme, or if you've got plans of a certain magnificence
(for instance, you plan to serve pheasant), you may attract
people who might have previously thought of the event as being a
bit too far away.

Not to be a stickler for this, but consider some of the really
"popular" food sensitivities and allergies listed at:
http://www.niaid.nih.gov/factsheets/food.htm
IME, people with food sensitivities or other dietary restrictions
are often happy just to get the information that helps them
decide whether they'll want a dish or not, as opposed to
requesting a special batch of something. Devora, who does the
actual cooking, often plans her feasts out so that someone who's
vegetarian can find something to eat at every course-perhaps not
the whole course, but something.
