Hi,

You don't know me, and I don't know you, but I had some commentary on your
message. I'm not sure if you'll care, but since you decided to post all
that publicly, I figured you wouldn't be surprised if you got a
reply. Everyone else, sorry if this burns your eyes ;-), if I should not
have responded here, I apologize. I actually agonized over that for a
while, but I think that some points need to be addressed publicly. If my
judgement is bad here, sorry. Send slaps to my wrist privately so as to
not overload the list with condemnations :-).

I have never been married. I have never had kids. I have been cheated on
by someone I was in love with, but I'm sure that is only an inkling of the
pain you must have felt. I wish nobody had to deal with that. I realize
that's very inadequate, and I don't think words could ever comfort
you. Best wishes in the future, in the SCA or not.

That being said, and I realize you were speaking in pretty broad terms
because of passion, your ideas about Atlantian rapier fighters were made
with a pretty broad brush stroke. You hit me, and a bunch of my
friends. Several times. I know you probably don't care, but you've
insulted me a bunch of times over. No, I'm not going to challenge you or
any such crap, I'm just telling you.

I would say that I'm friendly acquaintances of Greg and Bea. I live in
South Carolina, so I don't see them much. I knew there had been some sort
of messy break up in Bea's past, but I've never asked, because it wasn't my
business. I probably should have deleted the e-mail when I got it. I
didn't. Oops. Now I know much more then I want to. The point here is
that your private life did darken my day. Thanks. That should have never
made it to a public list. If you really wanted to post that, it should
have been specifically addressed to people.

Significantly, you have called me unmoral, unhonourable and unethical. You
don't even know me. I have no idea who you are. Frankly, the only
response I can give to this is expletives. Lots of them. I'm not an easy
person to anger. I'm Canadian. You can almost break my spine before I
confront somebody. This is too much.

What also insults me is you villainize Atlantian Rapier. I won't lie to
you. I'm a Provost. I've lived in Atlantia, oh, for about two years
now. Before that I was a Midrealmer, and I have a Bronze Ring from
there. If you want to write this off because of the biases you have, go
for it, but I'm going to type this anyway, cause it makes me feel
better. I love rapier. It's my passion. I fence 4-7 days a week, three
or four days a week modern foil, and one to three times a week SCA. I work
very hard to promote rapier in the SCA, it's what I'm dedicated to. You
are sh***** on my work. Your ideas are dated. I try hard to dispel
rumours and work to improve the Academy. The Provosts and Free Scholars
are trying very hard to better the perceived and the real status
quo. We're winning that fight, slowly, honest. You are f'ing that
up. That pisses me off.

I'm not even insulted as an Atlantian. Mostly as just a person. I think
it's very sad you don't fence anymore, because I derive a lot of enjoyment
from that. <shrug>. You may or may not. If you're done with the SCA, you
should pick it up again at a modern salle somewhere.

Anyway, I'm sure I'll never meet you. I hate to say it, but from your
tirade, I probably don't care to.

repentance, I seem to recall. But what? What is it? I've forgotten the
words, Don't have a book; and there's no one to guide My footsteps here in
