The Tourney of Ymir
Barony of Windmasters' Hill
February 7th-9th

As the long cold dead of winter begin to pass, and the ice begins to
crack around the grave of the ice giant Ymir, the new baronage of
Windmasters' Hill readies for their investiture and the tourney season
begins.

Heavy Fighting: Combatants shall have a chance to compete in the
traditional Ymir double elimination tourney. (Sir Rodrigo Falcone

Rapier: A tourney to challenge the skill of all rapier fighters is being

Archery: There will be targets aplenty for archers to test their skill.

Arts & Sciences: For our annual Tourney of Ymir, we will have three
competitions. The first competition will be for a pre-1000 viking feast
food item, and the second competition will be a skald-style performance
poetry reading, and the third will be for viking clothing accessories.

Feast item- please bring your feast item with documentation, and if you
made any substitutions in preparation, state why. A feast item includes
any food that would have been served at a viking feast in pre-1000
viking-held areas, including Scotland, Norway, Denmark, and so on. Since
recipes are scarce, interpretation is encouraged, but please include
your thoughts on your interpretation in your notes.

Skald-style performance- please rehearse and perform a viking poetry
reading in persona, and have a (max. one page) bibliography with your
source to hand to the judges. If you feel confident enough to write your
own viking poetry, please do so. Performances will be encouraged to be
short 5-7 minutes, but exciting.

Clothing Accessories- these include hats, shoes, socks, mittens, leg
wrappings, pouches, belts, jewelry, etc. Please include
documentation/pictures of sources, and bibliography of source material.

Feast: A feast of which Vikings might dream shall be prepared by Sir

Children's Activities: Children's activities: Parents should dress

Curia: Their Ryal Majesties will be conducting a Curia on Saturday
afternoon.

Open: 6pm on Friday, 7 February; closes at noon on Sunday 7 February.
This is a DRY site. Neither camping nor pets are permitted.
