No one I know of sells silver sheet locally except for
one guy that sometimes shows up for gem shows.
TSI has various supplies at reasonable prices.
http://www.tsijeweltools.com/ Jig pegs, pin vise, hammer.
http://www.riogrande.com/ metals of many descriptions.
Metalliferous carries the largest selection of metals in many
shapes and wires and sheet. http://www.metalliferous.com/
All are very reasonable dealers. I recommend them.
I know lots of others but these carry almost everything
you are liable to want.
Around Raleigh:
There is a large hobby store (mostly for train buffs) in South Hills
Mall across US1/64 south from Crossroads Shopping Center
(on the Cary side of I-440 where it goes south).
That store has an amazing selection of plastics and
copper and brass and aluminum sheet. It looks like a gift store
from the inside of the mall. The trains and tools and modelling
bits are in the back two rooms. For a hobby shop it's pretty big.
Burke Brothers Hardware on Hillsborough St. just past the
Fairgrounds has a smaller amount of the same stuff for modelmakers.
Pin vises can be had at most hobby stores including Hungates.
I'm not sure just which Mall Hungates is in now. I think
Cary Towne Mall.
Hobbymasters on Creedmoor Road about two miles north of
Crabtree Valley on U.S. 70 W. has a fair selection of
tools, and I think brass/aluminum/copper.
For many small hand tools the guy I would recommend would
be the tool dealer at the flea market with the 30 X 40 foot
booth just north of the white restroom building at the
Fairgrounds. He has some good stuff at very nice prices.
The next local Gem and Mineral Show is the 11th through the 13th
of April at the Kerr Scott Building at the Fairgrounds.
However, there is a Dixie Gun and Knife show this weekend in
the Jim Graham Building at the Fairgrounds. There are usually
at least a couple of dealers there who specialize in small tools.
It generally runs $7 or $8 to get in.
