[MR] proof of membership and Troll

My Lady,

With regards to including my membership number with reservations, I just do
it as a courtesy to the reservationist. As an event reservationist in the
past, I found it nice to already have the membership number in my database
before folks arrive. That way, all the troll has to do is verify the number
against the *valid* card, instead of take the time to write the number down.
This is also a courtesy to folks standing in line at troll - it keeps the
line moving.

I understand your concern about folks not bringing their card with them
because they figure that you already have the membership number. Honestly,
it is difficult to imagine getting through the troll line without proof of
membership (and a DNA sample!) and those who try should be sent home for not
reading the rules before playing the game. :) (or at least charged the
non-member surcharge as a lesson for the next time.)

"The SCA membership card... Don't leave for troll without it!"

Cheers,
Sorcha :)

Greetings everyone from Eógan mac Ailpein, Troll of Ymir,

Now keep in mind two things. one that I love you all, and two that I do not
set policy.

I have noticed that many of you are sending your membership numbers when you
send in your check for reservations. This is a wonderful yet meaningless
thing. All the number tell us is that you had a membership at one point. I
have been told that I should require proof of current membership and this
means a blue card / a white card / Acorn etc (or a photocopy there of)

The reason I bring this up is that I am afraid that because you are sending
me the membership numbers that you won't bring proof of membership with you
to the event. If you don't have proof of membership with you at the event
then I will be compelled to charge you the non-member surcharge/fee/money
whatever.

I bring this up not just for those of you who are coming to Tourney of Ymir
because for all events in the forseeable future. You should make a habit of
bringing your blue card, Acorn, etc to all events.

So I am looking forward to seeing all of you at Ymir and BTW there are still
cabins and feast spots left, but they are going fast.

Your servant,

Eógan mac Ailpein
Troll for Tourney of Ymir
